Everyday Do Something You Enjoy

Day 5,  Rudy is becoming predictable  and wise. Observation of the initial minutes of Rudy's cleaning cycle  has been a recent addition to my daily bucket list .He'd missed a few days work. Apparently he needed a "mental health day." (Actually he missed his charging time and had no energy.) Rudy, after his daily 5,  ready and refreshed to face his day. The first spot Rudy vacuums is under the grandmothers buffet.(Yes, that is plural grandmothers.  It belonged both to my parents' mothers. ) I've even noticed that some days he goes under the buffet two or three times.  I label it his favorite spot.  If Rudy gets stuck and moved to a new location, the buffet dust bunnies are swept away, again.  If Rudy has trouble finding his home base, more under the buffet dust bunnies are searched for and given a new home in his dust bin.  When Rudy is under stress, to the buffet he goes. Rudy's work plan justified one of my daily goals for Life....

The Secret to Success is Keep Trying

"Error 6..." I turned when I heard Rudy give the Uh-Oh chime and heard the dreaded Error 6.  Rudy tells me to move to a new location.  The message on my phone says he is stuck on a cliff.  Today I learned it could be several other issues. I tried moving Rudy to a new location. Got the same Uh-Oh. Today Error 6 was resolved when I went through a laundry list of fixes.  The two which seemed to remedy this Error 6 fall under the heading of "Back to the Basics". I removed the tricks of the cliff diving (the topic of a future blog).  Rudy moved but seemed to favor circular motion rather than his chaotic angular pattern. I noticed that when I tried to send Rudy the command to return to home base, he was having troubling locating it. I picked up Rudy and aligned him 6 inches from home base.  He happily nestled into his home.  I think   I heard him groan with delight. Rudy reminded me of one of Life's secrets:  The Secret to Success ...

This Still Makes Me Smile

Rudy was still new yet was sleeping on the job.  After a couple of months obediently cleaning the floors  Rudy missed work.  I checked his charge.  Zero.Rudy had run out of energy. I don't have the proper education or mechanical skills to understand an instruction manual.  So I rarely know where the manuals are,  in the rare event I even save them. So  I ask myself, "WWMSD" (What would my son do)?  Search the internet! It's amazing you can ask the internet anything and life with Rudy has proved it.  I'll share more in a later installment of Life with Rudy, my partner in grime! I found a great video which explained the importance of keeping the charging/docking/plate thingys clean.  Checked my plate thingys and AHA , there was evidence of grime.  Rudy  was asleep because of a dirty connection. I can only imagine where he collected the evil grime. I started up the video again to learn how to clean the charging docking...

Embrace the Chaos

"Embrace the Chaos."   One of my life mottos.  I speak it often because I am still learning to live it out.  Rudy reminds me regularly  to embrace his chaotic cleaning style. Rudy doesn't clean as I would, one room at a time, in an orderly left to right manner.  Rudy races from one speck of dirt to another invisible invader of our home in another room.  I've tried to control his method but Chaos is his norm. Yes I do wear flip flops in January! Just this this week, Rudy, my robotic vacuum, sneaked into my sewing room.  My sewing room is a small world of dangerous papers, tangling threads and sharp objects to be consumed by a determined little robot. I'd prefer speaking and reasoning with Rudy.  "Buddy,  Thanks but go clean elsewhere."  Rudy never listens. I've tried to stop him, pick him up and remove him from the danger. Yet I've seen Rudy restarted aim directly to the Danger Zone.  He's either very determined or a t...

it's been 1 year

My friend and I had our one year anniversary.  Reflecting on the past year, I realize my friend, Rudy, has taught me several life lessons. To celebrate our one year relationship I started a new blog.  Don't know how often I'll post his wisdom.  Could be as often as he wakes up.  He meets me Monday through Saturday.  He has Sunday to completely rest and recharge. Rudy and I met on Christmas Day, 2018.  He was a gift from my husband.  My son had a friend just like Rudy so he established communication between us on my smartphone. Rudy and I had a brief separation.  I became annoyed with his activity and his neediness.  Now I look forward to another year of his "annoyance".  I really missed  him through our brief hiatus. Rudy is my robotic vacuum.  He happily roams our main living space six day a week. ( He is strictly forbidden to enter the closet as he loves to suck on shoelaces.) Once we decorated for Christmas I was ...
