This Still Makes Me Smile

Rudy was still new yet was sleeping on the job.  After a couple of months obediently cleaning the floors  Rudy missed work.  I checked his charge.  Zero.Rudy had run out of energy.

I don't have the proper education or mechanical skills to understand an instruction manual.  So I rarely know where the manuals are,  in the rare event I even save them. So  I ask myself, "WWMSD" (What would my son do)?  Search the internet!

It's amazing you can ask the internet anything and life with Rudy has proved it.  I'll share more in a later installment of Life with Rudy, my partner in grime!

I found a great video which explained the importance of keeping the charging/docking/plate thingys clean.  Checked my plate thingys and AHA , there was evidence of grime.  Rudy  was asleep because of a dirty connection. I can only imagine where he collected the evil grime.

I started up the video again to learn how to clean the charging docking plate thingys.  At the climax of the instructions on carefully cleaning with a soft cotton swab, the young male narrator's voice paused for effect.

Then I heard ....

"Daddy, who are you talking to?"

I love it!  This brilliant savior of Rudy's working life was a normal Daddy  sharing his robot vacuum knowledge with a nice old lady in Kansas from somewhere in his home via the internet.  This cute interruption made me appreciate this fellow's dedication to sharing his knowledge.  I need to find that video and give it some "likes"!

I'm smiling now as I write.  A double portion of joy- Rudy restored to workability and a cute reminder to smile at life's surprises.

Props to Rudy and the Troops

Molly giving Rudy respect Rudy's appointed time arrived and he entered the living area.  All three dogs rose from napping position and left the room.  My initial thought was they feared Rudy, the robot vacuum. Yet,  as wise old Makena walked past hardworking Rudy I sensed an acknowledgment of thanks.  She's a stubborn, feisty badger.  Fearless in the face of superior forces. She's not afraid of Rudy. She's not even annoyed when he vacuums her safe spot under the bed. The wise one knows Rudy is a vital member of this community. His service keeps the household dust and hair population to a manageable amount. Makena's "props" to Rudy reminded me of all those Essential Troopers who are keeping my life safe and secure.  I wouldn't survive the COVID 19 Quarantine without the sacrificial service of so many.  THANK YOU to all the Essentials who provide for our community.

Rudy's Retreat Advice

To you  this photo is mysterious and indecipherable.  To me it was horrifying!  I moved the quilt rack to discover a dust bunnys as big as my fist.  My initial thought-  Rudy failed at his only job.  In reality I had obstructed his access to the corner.  Who knew what "evil" lurked in the corners and edges until it is revealed? Three lessons I learned from the over-sized dust bunny seem fitting advice for today's  life challenges.  (I'm already in Day 11 of my "retreat", as I call the stay at home order.) Be thorough. Move the obstacles to reveal the situation. I blocked Rudy's path.  Rudy's not to blame.  Blame really doesn't minister to the current situations.  History will provide the look back fault finding or maybe not. I'm still looking for the unknown child who spread measles to me as a 25 year old on Christmas vacation.over 40 years ago. Be consistent.  Keep the planned schedule for success. I was guilty o...

A Simple Message

In today’s crazy situation Rudy reminds me to return to simple life, to return home. He sings a happy tune as he arrives at his home base for recharging and refreshing (an empty dust bin). I often interrupt his planned schedule. Rudy always returns to the sanctity of his home. Rudy says: Use this time in life to recharge and refresh. I say: Be safe.
